Like many organizations, Loop is environmentally conscious and is continuously increasing its green initiatives.

Many of the product manufacturers we work with are also committing to protecting our environment and offer great resources to help everybody make a contribution. APC provides great tips on Green Computing, while Apple strives to produce energy-efficient products and to reduce their carbon footprint. Many other manufacturers such as HP, IBM, and Dell offer a variety of green solutions.

Loop’s first step towards green IT was the introduction of sales staff telecommuting followed by the reduction of technicians’ road travel and idling times thanks to a new offering where services can be delivered remotely through a client’s firewall rather than sending a technician to their location. This initiative alone equates to:

• A reduction of 1,849 kg of GHG emissions annually
• Planting 11 trees to absorb GHG emissions
• A reduction of 18 tons of CO2 emissions
• Taking 1 vehicle off the road

Loop also encourages its clients to accept electronic statements and invoices rather than the old-fashioned paper ones, thus reducing paper waste as well as the resources required for transportation through regular mail. Loop continues to research ways in which it can contribute to being green, whether it be through the products and services we offer or the means by which we offer them.
